In the context of wool blankets, "finishing" refers to the chemical and mechanical processing of the woven pieces after weaving.
This involves washing, spinning, laying out, smoothing, wet-raising, drying, intermediate shearing, dry-raising, and finally shearing the woven fabric for wool blankets, which comes in woven lengths of, for example, 70 m, on special machines.
The aim of this mechanical and chemical treatment is to achieve certain properties, such as a warming nap through raising with teasels or natural thistles.
