Faux fur blankets
Faux Fur Blankets
For our faux fur blankets, we exclusively use faux fur and no real fur.
Similar to carpet manufacturing (double-pile weaving process), two layers of fabric are woven one above the other on a weaving machine. The pile threads are incorporated into the base layer between the two fabrics. After weaving, the pile layer is cut between the two fabrics using a reciprocating knife. This results in two fabrics, each with a base layer and a pile layer. These extremely durable and long-lasting plushes or high-pile articles became well-known and appreciated in the carpet and upholstery fabric industries, where high-quality mohair fabrics are still used as upholstery materials. These manufacturing processes are also still used today in the production of Steiff teddy bears, whose collector's items are still made from genuine mohair plush, just as they were a hundred years ago.
For the production of faux fur blankets
in addition to the classic weaving process, knitting and raschel machines are also used. This technique has been continuously perfected to this day and represents an alternative to the weaving process.
What they all have in common is their production from 2 yarn systems: a ground yarn system and a pile yarn system. The pile threads can only be formed on one side by machine and due to the manufacturing process. If a pile is desired on both sides, two blankets must therefore be sewn together. This is why all faux fur blankets to this day are double blankets and relatively heavy.
A second alternative is to provide a fabric on the reverse side to cover the base layer, or, as we prefer, a high-quality natural hair fabric as the reverse side. For this, we use natural hair fabrics made from virgin wool, or virgin wool with cashmere. This provides, in addition to the attractive appearance of the faux fur on the outside, an additional benefit in terms of the natural warmth retention of natural hair on the reverse side, i.e., the side facing the body.
The faux fur used in processing is lint-free and of high quality.
