Lint/Fluff
If natural hair blankets shed, this is often due to improper construction or insufficient compaction in the wool wash, as well as unpredictable factors in the manufacturing process such as napping and shearing.
The tendency to shed can also be exacerbated by too short a pile, i.e., the average length of the hairs. If the hairs are not sufficiently integrated into the base fabric, they can more easily detach.
To ensure the quality and longevity of natural hair blankets, a carefully controlled fulling process is essential. This gives the blankets the necessary stability and durability. A gentle wet napping followed by a more aggressive dry napping ensures a higher density of the pile, even if this stresses the napping machines and requires regular renewal of the napping cards.
Despite all care in production, production-related tolerances cannot be entirely avoided. Complaints are taken seriously at Ritter Decken and are investigated individually. As a preventive measure against shedding, we recommend regularly shaking out your blanket.
