Faux Fur Blankets

For our faux fur blankets, we exclusively use faux fur and no real fur.

Similar to carpet manufacturing (double-weave plush process), two layers of fabric are woven on top of each other on a loom. The pile threads are bound into the base layer between both fabrics. After weaving, the pile layer between the two fabrics is cut open with a shifting knife. This results in two fabrics, each with a base layer and a pile layer. These extremely durable and hard-wearing plushes or high-pile articles became known and appreciated in the carpet and upholstery fabric industries, where high-quality mohair fabrics are still used today as upholstery materials. These manufacturing processes are also still used today by Steiff for their teddy bears, where collector's items are still made from real mohair plush, just as they were a hundred years ago.

For the production of faux fur blankets

in addition to the classic weaving process, knitting and raschel machines are also used. This technology has been continuously perfected to this day and represents an alternative to the weaving process.

Common to all is the production from two yarn systems: a ground yarn system and a pile yarn system. To this day, due to manufacturing limitations, pile threads can only be formed mechanically on one side. If a pile is desired on both sides, two blankets must therefore be sewn together. This is why all faux fur blankets are still double blankets and relatively heavy.

A second alternative is to provide the back with a fabric to cover the base layer, or, what we prefer, a high-quality natural hair fabric as the reverse side. For this, we use natural hair fabrics made from virgin wool, or virgin wool with cashmere. This not only enhances the attractive look of the faux fur on the outside but also provides an additional benefit in terms of the natural warmth retention of natural hair on the back, the side facing the body.

The faux fur used for processing is lint-free and of high quality.
